Don't take a lot of leftovers home. We get into a famine mentality with leftovers. Their shelf life is only about one to two days and most of us are socialized to not waste food, so then we feel compelled to eat them. Somehow, most people believe that leftovers don't have calories, but they do. And since we often eat them standing over the sink ' we consume more than we intend.

Start a Food Diary. You should include all the foods you eat each day into your diary. Also, put in the portion amount and the calories consumed. Yes, it sounds boring but it's very important. You'll be amazed at how many of those "just a taste" temptations add up. Keeping a food Diary will help keep you on track and show you the areas you need to improve in.

When invited to a friend's house for a meal, always mention your special diet so as not to offend anyone when you show up with some of your own food.

One of the best ways to lose weight fast is to exercise. Running will be the most beneficial to you for rapid weight loss, however, walking and biking can also help you lose weight. By running, you will be burning calories at a much more rapid pace, therefore you'll be losing weight faster.

Slow down. Slow down when you eat. Stop and ask yourself after each slow bite, "Am I full?". I can almost guarantee you will eat half as much as usual. Keep a food diary. Every day write down what you eat and drink. This eliminates mindless eating and "forgotten" foods and it will also give you a sense of being more accountable for what you eat and you will find that you naturally avoid overeating snacky foods.

Find an Accountability Partner. This can be a friend, co-worker or family member. Their job is to be truthful to you and help you remain on track. This can also be a group such as TOPS or Weight Watchers.

Going away? Bring your "before" photos with you. Keep them in an easily viewed spot to help motivate you to not lose touch with your eating plan during your vacation.
